russian leather / diced leather
A term used for calf leather that is tanned with willow bark and birch tar oil. It is characterized by a finished checked pattern.This tanning process originated in Russia, giving it its name. Because of the birch bark oils used, the leather has a unique odor. Once dyed, the leather is usually red or reddish brown.
